Get ready for an immersion in the rich cultural African heritage in Rio. In this experience, you’ll get to know a little bit about the profound history and culture of Africans in Brazil. The highlight of this experience is the gastronomy, with typical dishes of African-Brazilian cuisine, very common in the daily lives of the practitioners of religions of African origin. We’ll focus on this culture that influences the people to the present day.
The intention is enabling an experience of immersion in flavors, aromas, and sounds of a culture that is a pivotal part of the history of Brazil. We’ll visit the Historical Site of the Pier of Valongo, and the region known as Little Africa, learn its history and traditions. Let’s get to know Pedra do Sal, where Cariocas proudly celebrate their Afro-Brazilian legacy with weekly samba jam sessions. After exploring this heritage site, we’ll have some ethnic gastronomy tasting and percussion workshop.
